Do you have any missing teeth? If so, do you wonder what restoration could be best for your smile? If you are missing a few consecutive teeth, a dental bridge or dentures could be the best option for you. While some people confuse the two, there is a significant difference: a bridge is a permanent fixture while dentures can be removed. However, our dentist, Dr. David J. Harsant will probably not recommend dentures if you are missing more than three consecutive teeth.
If you decide a bridge is your best option after consulting a dentist, there are a few things you should expect. For example, did you know that bridges are typically made of metals and other materials? Bridges are also designed to provide many benefits. For instance, with bridges you’ll be able to chew, eat, and speak comfortably. Another benefit of a dental bridge is that you won’t have to make any extra effort to care for them. However, please don’t misunderstand: you’ll still have to care for your smile, but your normal routine—brushing for two minutes a day, flossing daily, and visiting a dentist every six months—is enough.
Finally, if you are missing teeth, we recommend getting a restoration as soon as possible. If you don’t, it will be more difficult to keep your smile as clean as it could be, which could lead to gum disease, bad breath, and potentially, shifting teeth.
